A family Heir-loom bach, full of great memories we are happy to share with folk who are responsible, caring, and willing to respect a place which means so much to our family. Although it is in need of re-decoration we are working on it as time and finances allow. We expect guests to bring all their own linen and leave the place clean for those following. there will be pillows, blankets, and duvets available.

Paparoa township(supplies, petrol, takeaways, cafe, reataurant)- 10min: Matakohe Kauri museum - 20min; Piroa falls (Waipu gorge, swimming possible)- 30min; Mangawhai beach - 45min; Whangarei - 1 hr; Dargaville - 30min; Kai-Iwi lakes & Trounsen Kauri forest - 1hr
We would prefer a minimum of 2 nights stay but will consider all applications on a case by case basis.
Views from the dining and sun-room across the river with beautiful sunsets. One half acre property with areas of native trees and a large grassed area leading to the waters edge. Ideal location for observing aquatic birdlife, kayaking or a peaceful retreat. During warmer months you can catch a feed of snapper 100m off the beach or surfcast off the front yard. Swimming is possible for an hour either side of high-tide but beware of the odd oyster shell, on the upside they are great eating. Please be aware that being on the south-side of a hill we do not get early morning sun in winter months, there is a good heat-pump though.
We are an environmentally aware family and do not cater for red-necks or petrol-heads, so if you want to trash the environment or race around on jet-skis this is not the place for you. This is a quiet little back-water, and we and our neighbours want to keep it this way. We request that guests wishing to fish just take enough for a meal as the fishery is relatively small and local and with sensible conservation will provide a nice feed for everybody.
